Personnel security
The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB part of BRE Global) sets the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products and services perform effectively. LPCB’s Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) are applied in fire and security sectors around the world.
The Loss Prevention Standard (LSP 2082 : Issue 1.0), published by BRE Global in 2017, defines personnel security as: ‘A system of controls used to protect an organisation, its facilities and other assets against actions taken by insiders.’
Where ‘insider’ refers to: ‘People e.g. staff/contractors; that have either a working knowledge of the organisation and its security controls or who, due to their relationship with the organisation, have authorised access through one or more layers of the organisation’s cyber or physical security controls.’
